...such was the case for me one evening...as i stepped in front of a bull, in an attempt to save a rider, i was knocked heavily to the ground by the bull and stomped severely...the most negative result of the altercation was that i had been left with a couple of cracked bones in my foot - which doesn't sound like much of an injury - until an attempt to stand, walk or run is made...at which point one recognizes how important little cracked bones can be...

...i struggled to stand...experienced excruciating pain...but somehow managed to stagger through the remainder of the rodeo..

...after the dust from the last bullride had settled, i dragged myself to the trainers table to seek diagnosis, prognosis and relief...as i sat there being poked and prodded, the bullrider that i had saved in the bone-breaking episode appeared...he was in his mid-twenties and was built strong and solid...he came to the table where i was and while verbally expressing his deep appreciation for my help, hugged me with a big bear hug...the trainer interrupted the moment as he looked at the bullrider and said, "if you really want him to know how much you appreciate what he did for you, then go find some ice for his foot..."
